These easy Sautéed Green Beans are a healthy and tasty side dish that's quick and can be made year round using fresh or frozen green beans. This recipe is gluten free and easily made dairy free & vegan.
Fill a large skillet half way with water. Bring to a boil. Once water is boiling, add green beans. Stir and boil for 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, fill a large bowl with ice water. After the green beans have boiled for 2 minutes, transfer them to the bowl of ice water. Dump the boiling water out of the skillet.
Sauté
Heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Melt the butter.
Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
Add the drained green beans. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until crisp-tender.
Season with red pepper flakes and salt. Enjoy!
Notes
*Use olive oil as a vegan alternative.Frozen vs. Fresh Green Beans: Before sauteing frozen green beans, you need to blanch them.Blanching is optional for fresh green beans. Skip straight to the Sauté part of the instructions if desired.
