A bubbly sangria filled with probiotics and made with only 4 simple ingredients and no added sugar
Summer is officially sangria season in my opinion, and my readers officially love sangria according to my stats.
They’re oldies but goodies!
Since it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a new sangria recipe on the blog, I decided to change that.
I was planning on making this kombucha sangria in May, but I made Boozy Mango Pineapple Popsicles instead. Definitely a good decision, but I felt sad that I hadn’t made sangria since 2014.
Whaaaat?! One should never go that long without making sangria. Fun fact.
So I made this sangria I’d been dreaming about for the past few months using kombucha and strawberries. Two of my all time favorite things.
For this recipe, you’ll only need 4 ingredients: strawberries, kombucha, white wine and sparkling water.
Initially I was going to put some mint in the recipe, but I forgot to buy mint. Same with limes. Forgot to buy ’em. Silly me…
You’ll need a pound of strawberries.
Since I cannot be trusted around strawberries I buy two pounds of strawberries, so I can eat every other strawberry that I slice and still have enough for the sangria 😉
I like to make my own kombucha, but you can certainly buy unflavored kombucha, or even strawberry kombucha if they have it. You’ll need 24 ounces of kombucha.
For the wine, buy a bottle of light white wine that has a fruity flavor with citrus for the best results, in my opinion.
I used sauvignon blanc. Pinot grigio would also be lovely. You can see how I feel about chardonnay in the bloopers…
You can use plain sparkling water or club soda. I chose berry flavored sparkling water, and it was delish.
Remember to save the sparkling water for serving time because you want your sangria as bubbly as possible.
Or at least I do.
Strawberry Kombucha Sangria
- 1 lb strawberries sliced
- 750 mL white wine
- 24 oz kombucha
- 16 oz sparkling water or club soda
- Add the sliced strawberries to a large pitcher. Mash about half of them with a spoon. Pour in white wine and kombucha.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour or up to 24 hours.
- When ready to serve, pour about 6 ounces (3/4 cup) sangria into a glass and top with about 2 ounces (1/4 cup) sparkling water. Enjoy!
