Bourbon isn’t really known for being a summer cocktail, in my opinion.
But apparently, it’s Bourbon Day on June 14th, so celebrate we will.
Blueberry Bourbon Cocktail
While I’ve been at my grandmother’s house in Point Clear, AL, I’ve been raiding her blueberry bushes daily. And I decided that I could use her blueberries to make a cocktail for bourbon day.
Surely, blueberry and bourbon could work together, right?
And since I am a huge fan of alliteration, I decided to add another “b” ingredient in the mix for a Blueberry Basil Bourbon Cocktail because that’s just fun to say.
Especially after two of these cocktails 😉

Making these bourbon cocktails is similar to making Mint Juleps, just not as specific.
Basically, you will just mash together blueberries, basil and sugar until the blueberries are mashed, the basil is fragrant and the sugar dissolves.
Then add in some bourbon and ice, top with a little club soda or sparkling water, and enjoy!
It’s a refreshing summer cocktail that you can enjoy whether or not it’s Bourbon Day.
Be sure to enjoy the bloopers while drinking the cocktail…
