Spicy and sweet in one fizzy glass, this fermented beverage keeps your stomach happy & your tastebuds even happier!
One week until Christmas, and I am going crazy getting my life ready for a two week vacation.
That means I have soup cooking on all four burners on the stove, something in the oven, and tons of veggies being chopped. I also like to stock up on items that keep for more than a week in the fridge like yogurt, eggs, and cheese (unopened). I also make frozen spinach cubes to use for my smoothies.
This saves my life when I get home from traveling and have very little time and energy to devote to cooking.
Something else that is equally important to me is having kombucha. I like to start a new batch right before I leave, so it will be ready when I get home. I also like to have a tasty flavor in the fridge ready to drink the second I walk in the door.
I know I sound like a broken record, but kombucha is a game changer for me. I drink it in the morning for energy, plus it makes my stomach feel so much better!
I even drove across the country with my scoby (and it’s basically the only thing I can keep alive. I have a black thumb).
I have really been loving this Cranberry Orange Kombucha for the holiday season and thought it couldn’t get better. That is until I tried this Apple Cinnamon Ginger flavor. Holy yum!!!
I have to restrain myself from drinking more than 2 cups a day because I love it so much! P.S. There is such as a thing as too much of a good thing when it comes to kombucha. I do not recommend drinking more than 16 ounces a day.
If you think you don’t like kombucha, try this one. Brew it for one week and add a little extra maple syrup. Then you can work your way to brewing a little longer and/or using less maple syrup.
Oh it’s just too good for you to miss out because you had a bad experience with a vinegar-tasting kombucha in the past!
P.S. Want to know how to brew your own kombucha? Watch the video below 🙂

- 2 cups apple cider (or unfiltered apple juice)
- 1 apple, grated (or ½ cup applesauce)
- 1 tsp grated ginger (from a 1 inch piece)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 14 cups kombucha
- Add the apple cider, grated apple, grated ginger, and apple stick to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 25 to 35 minutes until the mixture reduces by half.
- Stir in maple syrup and remove from heat.
- Let cool completely before transferring the mixture to freshly brewed kombucha.
You can bottle in half gallon containers or 16 ounce containers. Add equal amounts to each cup depending on size of the container. (Half gallon container will use ½ cup mixture for each. 16 ounce container will use about 2 TBSP for each)
